New Modular RCMP Detachment Deschambault Lake

About the project

The project involves providing comprehensive construction services for the development of a new modular RCMP complex in Deschambault Lake, Saskatchewan. This includes the construction, transportation, and setup of a modular contained-use building, modular residence, storage building, and associated site development on an existing greenfield. The primary structure is an 8,740 square-foot, single-storey, wood-framed modular building built on a crawl space. It will feature office space, a garage, storage areas, and contained-use areas.

Additionally, the project includes two other structures: a 2,745 square-foot, single-storey, wood-framed modular living quarters on a crawl space, and an 807 square-foot storage building.

Construction is utilizing high-quality, durable materials and includes detailed interior finishes, millwork, glazing and doors, along with comprehensive structural, mechanical, and electrical systems. Site development includes the installation of underground services, rock blasting, grading, landscaping, signage, lighting, and granular surfacing. The modular units are designed to look like one complete contemporary building where the modular design is not obvious, and the proposed wall cladding is a maintenance-free distinctive exterior befitting an RCMP facility.

The project incorporates a self-contained solar photovoltaic system, ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability. As the site is very remote (140 kilometres from the nearest town of Flin Flon, Manitoba), the self-contained solar photovoltaic (PV) system is designed to generate electricity independently, without relying on an external power grid to ensure a reliable power source.

At Deschambault Lake, the system is designed to meet all of the building’s energy needs, promoting sustainability and reducing operational costs. It has been designed to withstand harsh weather conditions, including heavy snow, cold temperatures, and high winds to ensure longevity and reliable performance. Advanced control systems will monitor energy generation, usage, and storage to optimize performance and allow for real-time tracking of energy output and consumption, as well as efficiency and maintenance needs.
