Fort Norman POL Storage Facility
About the project
Some of our first major projects took place throughout the high Arctic, where the unique logistical challenges of construction in northern and remote regions created the baseline for how we approach projects today.
Fort Norman is an extremely remote community, accessible only via river barge in summer or winter ice road. To construct this new Petroleum, Oil, And Lubricants (POL) Storage Facility, CPI first sent all equipment and supplies by truck to Hay River, where it waited for the Mackenzie River to melt. Once the river thawed, everything for the POL facility was sent by barge to Fort Norman for assembly.
