Gods Lake Narrows RCMP Detachment Interior and Exterior Renovations
About the project
The project involved interior renovations and repairs to the garage at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Detachment in God’s Lake, Manitoba. The scope of work included providing all necessary labor, materials, and shipping to complete the required renovations. Located 550 km northeast of Winnipeg, the community is accessible by air, boat and by winter roads.
For the facility building, the work included repairing the existing drywall and insulation at the front of the building, repairing the subfloor and installing flooring in the second-floor mezzanine, installing new humidifiers, and removing and replacing both the roof and the downspouts and gutters. The garage renovations consisted of removing and replacing the roof, along with the downspouts and gutters.
The buildings remained occupied throughout the renovation process, requiring strict adherence to maintaining fire access and control throughout the project to ensure the safety of occupants and compliance with regulatory requirements. This necessitated careful planning and coordination to keep emergency routes unobstructed and operational while minimizing disruptions to daily activities. Regular inspections and communication with the RCMP and fire safety officials were conducted to confirm compliance with fire code regulations and to promptly address any potential hazards.
