New Kildonan Park Maintenance Building

Project Description

This new 4,950 squared foot building features three large garage bays, a wash bay, and a spacious staff area with change rooms, lunch room and meeting area. There is generous space to accommodate both permanent park staff and seasonal employees. An exterior universal washroom is also available for park patrons. The scope of work included demolition of a smaller existing building at the site and associated concrete pad. CPI installed the steel structure on a cast-in-place concrete base, and performed all associated works including installation of site services, landscaping and commissioning.

Established in 1909, Kildonan Park is one of several regional parks in the City of Winnipeg. Designed by George Champion, the 96 acre (39 ha) public amenity is home to the dramatic open-air theatre Rainbow Stage, Peguis Pavilion, swimming pool, and numerous outdoor recreational areas. The new building frames the traditional English garden on the west side and dark vertical reverse board-and-batten cladding compliments the lush greenery of the park. The roof mimics other buildings throughout the park while the overhangs create dynamic shadows at the main entrance.
