Norseman Inn Seniors Housing Conversion

About the project

The Kenora District Services Board (KDSB) is the owner of the former Norseman Inn Motel in Red Lake, Ontario, and is converting the existing building into a 10-unit senior’s housing complex with support space. This adaptive reuse conversion of the existing 21-room, 7,306 square foot structure into at least 10 suites at the project site.

The renovation and reuse of existing buildings over demolition reduces construction costs and expedites construction times, while also reducing carbon footprint and preventing urban sprawl. By repurposing an older building to accommodate new functions, CPI helps clients like KDSB preserve historic and architectural value, promotes community engagement, and fosters an environment of flexibility and innovation. By blending old and new elements, we create spaces that represent a sustainable and economically viable approach to urban development that respects both the past and the future.
