Peguis First Nation/Percy Moore Hospital Fire & Life Safety Upgrade

About the project

The new fire and life safety system is part of a 2015 provincial government initiative to ensure all personal care homes and health facilities in Manitoba be equipped with modern fire response systems by January 2026. CPI completed the supply and installation of a new fire and life safety system at Percy E. Moore Hospital near Peguis First Nation.

To minimize disruption to hospital operations, CPI completed the work in phases. All work was done while the building was fully occupied and it remained fully functional throughout construction. CPI worked closely with facility management to create a detailed schedule that minimized the impact of construction, such as noise and dust, on vulnerable occupants during construction operations. Over 10% of the final project value was on local and Indigenous contractors and labor.

Since 2010, CPI has completed four projects in collaboration with Peguis First Nation. Our relationship is built on trust, community involvement and open dialogue, and is an ongoing process that requires commitment between all stakeholders. Consistency in actions, reliability and ongoing communication have been key factors in building and maintaining this long-term relationship. Building strong relationships with subtrades is crucial for the success of our construction projects. We have built long-standing relationships with subtrades on Peguis First Nation and have continued to work extensively with local and Indigenous contractors when possible.
