Percy E. Moore Hospital Roof and Building Envelope Replacement

About the project

Located approximately 20 kilometers north of Winnipeg, Percy E. Moore Hospital is a 16 bed, four-bassinet Hospital facility located in the town of Hodgson, Manitoba. It services the nearby First Nations communities of Peguis, Fisher River, Kinonjeoshtegon, and the farming communities of Fisher Branch and Hodgson. The total population is served by resident physicians, a full-time pharmacist and social workers providing health care services.

The project included a replacement to the roof and exterior building envelope, including energy-efficient doors and windows. Indigenous subtrades were leveraged for this project, including Five Brothers Construction, who provided demolition, excavation and grading, roofing, concrete site work and landscaping. Local Indigenous tradespeople were also hired for exterior masonry.

This project was completed in 21 phases to ensure the building could remain fully occupied and functional throughout construction. CPI worked closely with facility management to create a phased schedule that reduced the impact of construction on occupants. Infection control and monitoring was a major requirement for the duration of this project, and CPI used a robust hoarding system throughout the project.
