Poplar River First Nation School Roof Repairs
About the project
For the Poplar River First Nation, located approximately 450 kilometers from Winnipeg at the mouth of the Poplar River on Lake Winnipeg’s east side, roof repairs and interior remedial work present unique challenges due to the community’s remote location. Accessing this area requires careful logistical planning, especially for transporting construction materials and specialized equipment, as the project site is on a fly-in community when the winter road isn’t open.
The roof repair involves addressing weather-induced wear, reinforcing structural integrity, and enhancing insulation to withstand the area’s harsh climate. Interior repairs are focused on restoring the functionality and safety of key communal spaces, ensuring resilience and longevity against the environmental stresses typical of northern and lakeside communities.
