Riverview Health Center Digital Radiography Room Renovation
About the project
At the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, CPI is completing the installation of a new high-performance general radiographic system and internal renovations, including demolition and site work, new electrical and mechanical, millwork and interior finishes and site cleanup in compliance with CSA standards.
As the health centre is fully occupied during construction, CPI is using infection control measures in compliance with CSA Z317.13:22 to complete the work, which includes significant planning and risk assessment to create and implement infection control measures and communication strategies with health centre staff. This new digital system minimizes the X-ray dose by leveraging technologies that are gentler to humans and provide a more comfortable examination environment for both the patient and the operator.
Riverview Health Centre was founded in 1911 by the City of Winnipeg as the Winnipeg Municipal Hospital and was considered at the time to be the most modern hospitals in the world for the care of people with communicable diseases, such as typhoid fever, diphtheria, smallpox and tuberculosis. Today, Riverview Health Centre is a 387-bed rehabilitation and long-term care facility that offers progressive programming for patients and residents in both hospital and personal care home units. It is one of the first of its kind to incorporate a residential design on an all-encompassing scale.
