Stony Mountain Institute Wastewater Trash Collection Building
About the project
CPI is constructing this new 2,150 square foot wastewater trash removal building for Stony Mountain Institute, a federal multi-security complex adjacent to the community of Stony Mountain, Manitoba. Located less than 25 km from Winnipeg, the building is a CMU structure with pre-engineered wood trusses and a brick veneer. It will be connected to the existing wastewater sewer and will remove all inorganic material prior to the waste going into the shared lagoon with the RM of Rockwood. Despite its small stature, the building boasts an impressive 23 tons of rebar to create a foundation strong enough to hold all the mechanical equipment.
Due to the sensitive nature of the project site, all work is being done under strict security measures for workers and equipment and requires consistent coordination with facility staff and project workers. Following the successful commissioning of the Wastewater Trash Collection Building, CPI will also remove the existing trash screen chamber and associated gravity sewer piping. All long lead-time materials were purchased at the beginning of this two-year project to eliminate delivery problems and price increases.
